Australia partners with Cambodia to strengthen food safety, expand export markets and improve livelihoods for rice growing communities, contributing to resilient and sustainable growth.
To sell milled rice to high value markets like Australia and Europe, Cambodian farmers need to meet strict food safety standards regarding pesticide residue on rice. This means farmers must know how to use pesticides safely and correctly to get high yield of quality rice for export.
Australia is working with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to train rice farmers on safe chemical use and sustainable alternatives. The training has reached Cambodia’s major rice-growing provinces, helping farmers improve their farming practices and comply with new export standards.
