Clean water powers small business growth in rural Cambodia

Clean water powers small business growth in rural Cambodia

Australia’s support for rural Cambodians to access clean water is changing lives.

In Takeo province, Ms Doung Vanny, a former migrant worker, returned home in 2023 to open a hair salon. Without piped water, she had to carry water from a neighbour’s well, making her work difficult.

With support from the Australian Government’s CAPRED program, Vanny’s village is now connected to clean water. With reliable access to water, she can focus on growing her business and increasing her income.

Australia is also helping private water operators expand coverage in rural areas, reaching 23 villages and 13,500 people.

🇦🇺 All this contributes to Cambodia’s goal of universal clean water access by 2030, with over 1.2 million rural people already benefiting.
