Australia supports clean water access in Cambodia

On World Water Day, Australia reaffirms its commitment to ensuring clean water access for all. Through strategic investments and partnerships, we have helped more than 1.2 million rural Cambodians gain access to clean, piped water—improving lives, strengthening communities, and building resilience against climate change.

Through CAPRED, Australia’s clean water initiatives have provided Ka Huy, an IDPoor cardholder in Kampong Thom, with a water connection subsidy, giving her household access to safe, piped water. Previously, she struggled with year-round water shortages—her well dried up in the dry season and became polluted and flood-prone during the rainy season. She says this support has transformed her life, freeing her from water insecurity and the daily burden of water collection.

Australia remains committed to working with Cambodia to achieve universal clean water access by 2030.
